Chapter 6:

1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
-Genesis 6:1 (NKJV)
Genesis chapter 6 is especially intriguing. Verse one drops a bomb on us which makes us think, “What in the world was that; where did that come from?”
It introduces/ reinforces the spiritual battle which is taking place “behind the scenes”. Except, it’s crossed over into our plane of existence and become “real” (from our perspective-although it always has been). We’ll discuss this a little more in the coming chapters after the flood event.
This reinforces how important God’s admonition was to Cain:
“…And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
-Genesis 4:6 (NKJV)
There are forces working, not just behind the scenes, but in the “real” world to interfere with the original harmony of God’s creation. These forces are real and they’re very powerful.
Unfortunately, because the boundary God had created to keep sin out of his originally sinless creation had been broken, there is now an uncontrolled spiral downward. This was/ is (there’s nothing new under the sun, it’s being done today as well) magnified by men like Lamech who perverted God’s good intent and turned it into a license for an even greater level of evil. This is readily seen today by those who believe they are wise but instead prove themselves to be fools. These are those who believe God put boundaries in place (because He’s a big meanie pants) so those boundaries could be broken by those with a greater understanding of the true nature of things. The hyper-intellectualized imbecile believes God will reward them for pushing/ dismantling the boundaries He’s firmly established to protect said imbecile from His righteous judgment for their rebellion.
The quote from Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 29 hits especially hard here: “…God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.”
5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
-Genesis 6:5-7 (NKJV
However…
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
-Genesis 6:8 (NKJV)

“God is ‘love'” is one of the most common refrains today. This is said with the same casual air as: today is a day which ends in “y”.
The servants of “hippie Jesus” like to portray him as simply being lovey-dovey-groovy-schmoovey-baby!
God is patient. The events leading up to the judgment of Noah took hundreds of years. Noah’s ministry while he built the ark was 100 years on its own.

At some point God’s patience with rebellion will run out. When (not “if”) that happens, it will be catastrophic. How many died in the flood? I don’t know if there’s a record of it somewhere or not. The point-8 survived. Let that sink in.
When Abram saved Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah, how many were lost then? Abram even tried to negotiate with God to save more. God said he would honor the request if more could be found. Nonetheless, it came down to a handful, barely escaping in time.
Too many religious leaders who are products of “modern” culture like to think of Jesus as boyfren’ as opposed to Lord. Unfortunately…
God is deadly serious about what He expects from His creation. And time is currently winding down.
